Thinking about moving to Sarasota, Florida and I’m 22. Where do I start?

Hey thanks for reading. Let me just let you know my circumstances first. I’m 22 and in college at a community college close to home. I live with my parents and neither of us have a whole lot of money. My dream has been to move down to Sarasota, FL to reside, get my residency and go to college down there. Where do I start? I know I need to save money, but how do I make this dream a reality? Plus, I’m very sociable, but don’t know anybody there. How much money would I need to be making to survive on my own? How much would the move cost? I will be debt free in 3 months. I need some advice, and some guidance as to where to start. I live in a small town in Illinois and want to experience something completely different. Any ideas are welcome! P.S. If you know of what kind of job growth (I know with this economy it’s pretty bad in general) Sarasota has, that would help to. I’m experienced in retail management, serving, and have an insurance license. Thanks!

What do you think about your job and workers in the USA?

JUST A FEW DAYS AGO I STATED TALKING WITH A GIRL FROM BARCELONA SPAIN WHO IS A STUDENT IN CALIFORNIA. SHE WAS TELLING ME HOW CRAZY PEOPLE ARE HERE IN THE STATES WORKING TONS OF HOURS LIKE SLAVES, INCLUDING HER BOYFRIEND WHO IS AN AMERICAN SPANISH TEACHER.
WE ALL THE RESPECT OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, I GET A LAUGH EVERY TIME I HEAR PEOPLE ON THE STREET AND ON TV SAYING THAT THIS COUNTRY IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, I PERSONALLY THINK THAT IT WAS. IF WE LOOK AT THE UNITED NATIONS SURVEY IT SAYS THAT IS THE 6TH OR 7 TH BEST COUNTRY TO LIVE IN THE WORLD. IF ANYONE WHO LIVES HERE IN THE STATES LIKE MYSELF FOR 30 YRS LOOK HOW PEOPLE LIVE HERE, IT SOUNDS MORE LIKE A VERY MEDIOCRE WAY OF LIVING IF YOU COMPARE IT WITH REACH EUROPEANS NATIONS. THE AMERICAN DREAM FARING AWAY LITTLE BY LITTLE. FOR YOUR INFORMATION, I CAME HERE FROM CUBA CAUSE CASTRO IS IN POWER, I’M NOT AN ECONOMY IMMIGRANT LIKE MOST PEOPLE THAT IMMIGRATED TO THE STATES OR ANYWHERE ELSE.

FINAL COMMENTS: THE USA ECONOMY HAS BEEN GOING DOWN HILL SINCE 1976 ACCORDING TO ECONOMIST AND I HAVE SEEN THIS DECLINE MYSELF, WITH CLINTON 23 MILLION JOBS CREATED, WITH BUSH ONLY 3.5 MILLION JOBS, MILLIONS WITHOUT HEALTH INSURANCE, UNLIKE ITALY THAT IN ALMOST IMPOSIBLE TO FIRE YOU, IN THE STATES COMPANIES FIRE YOUR BEHIND EASILY.
THE REASON THAT MANY CUBANS THAT I KNOW AND IN MY ON FAMILY BECAME WEALTHY HERE IS BECAUSE THE ECONOMY WAS THE BEST IN THE WORLD, AND IT WAS A VIRGIN COUNTRY, THOSE DAYS ARE LONG GONE.

MY OWN CAUSING CAME HERE FROM CUBA, SHE IS NOW WORKING FOR 7 DOLLARS AND HOUR IN A FACTORY CLOSE TO MIAMI, THIS IS NOT A DREAM, THIS IS MORE LIKE A NIGHTMARE, BUT IM NOT STUPID, IS STILL BETTER THAN LIVING UNDER CRAZY CASTRO.
some of my cubans friends they have houses, nice cars, they are truck drives who wake up at 4:15 in the morning and return home at 5, 6 or 7 pm, they are not workers, they are slaves, to me they don,t leave a good live and i’m sure millions of people around the world will agree. the only people living well nowadays are professionals with a good degree in their hands, but for the majority of people like my father said the are slaves. my father opened a fish market here in jersey in the 80s and made lots of money, those days are long gone, even fish price is way,,way high, margin of profit is slim.
hi live free or die,
what economics have to do with democrats and republicans, please.
for your information…the usa economy has been going down hill since 1976, is not what it used to be, many cubans that i have met here in New Jersey became rich because they came in the 60’s and 70’s, they bought buildings like my half-brother grandpa. this country was a country where people came to make lots of money, is very, very hard nowadays to do that and for most cases you have to become a slave.
hi, loretta.

Well, is obvious that you have a problem towards others, you don’t fool me. What you saying does not make any sense. Undocumented people come here cause the states permits them too, the states needs many of them, by deporting these people you wont fix was broken in the usa. I guess you don,t have a tv or listen to radio. Many undocumented people have done jobs that people here don,t want, dishwashers, etc.
Is obvious that you are prejudice towards others, I sense it..

Bipolar questions for people who have it or know about it?

Yea, so I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder when I was 21….after a long bout of misdiagnosis because the doctors wouldn’t diagnos me as Bipolar when I first started showing signs of it as early as 13.

Its been a while since Ive been to the doctor, I have no job and no money and no insurance. So I haven’t taken medication in almost two years and basically constantly rely on drugs and alcohol to cope.
Im in a depressed cycle right now and can’t get out, I don’t know what I might do. I won’t go to the hospital, it costs too much.

what can I do? what options do I have? do I really just have to deal with it or die?
It feels like worst time, the worst pain, the bottom of the bottom….every time.

last night I had dreams of cutting myself, and for the first time in two weeks I felt like I had a good dream.

how do you feel about my college schedule?

I am 31 and going back to college after graduating 10 years ago. The reason? I’ve been laid off and have not had a single interview in 3 months, with aroun 275 of my resumes and applications floating around out there. So I’m heading back to school to puruse my dream of becoming a speech and language pathologist. As a SLP, I don’t think I will ever have to worry about not having a job and it has been my dream to become one for a very long time.

So, I am set to move in with my mom and my only responsibility will be my car insurance, gas, clothes, and then groceries for both of us. No rent, no utilities, nothing except her groceries. Luckily I don’t have any debt and I have around 10k in the bank to live off of.

So my plan is: Get as many undergrad classes as I can handle and get the undergrad part over with so I can then find work as a SLP assistant and of course move on to grad school. Since many of my other college credits are going to transfer, it is going to take me approx 3 semester, taking 4 classes a semester, to finish up the undergrad part!! I know I can handle 4 classes while not working, at least I should be able to. But the only concern that I have is the commute to this university is about 1.5 hours one way. Has anyone commuted this far and how did it work out? It just seems like it is going to really interfere with my study schedule, but since I’m not going to be working, maybe it won’t be an issue. I don’t know.

Why do people still want to be lawyers and what to do about America?

I have been on to a dozen sites read 100s of comments (really)
and so yes why to the above?

lawyers bear the hatred of many Americans
there are too many lawyers
law schools encourage a miserable jobs at big firms where the young grads either make it or are cut
make it and they earn a nice paycheck while working less
there are many lawyer hungry for a paying job
some charge maybe $400 an hour to pay for themselves and the many office assists they must employ, which leaves a bad impression on customers
of course there are cheaper lawyer, who work for very little pay for the government or for the poor
in fact some are paid so little , its a wonder why their doing it!

the politicians that work for us , many are lawyers
that’s probably why many are favorable to lawyers
they’ve created a system that normal people can’t comprehend
endlessly editing and adding new laws that will benefit them
we have no choice but to rely on those who understand the law, and we have to hope that each one we pick will have the interests of the common citizen

health care is extremely expensive
many health care insurance companies earn a large profit by working around rules
if say a person is mentally challenged has high medical fees he cannot change insurers (personally seen this case) because others insurers would charge much higher than the current issuer, even if current issuer is raising the fees

I think the insurance companies, with the help of those who understand law, will not allow a nation wide health care program to pass
lobbyist will hold the plan at bay
if Obama can change the health system even a little, I’d be so thankful
if he can’t, well its not like the task is easy

maybe why people dislike lawyers so much is because they hold so much power, yet so many abuse it

is this the American Dream?
everyone wants to be rich, but where does all the money come from?
the deficit, the people?
is there too much emphasis put freedom that it has produced the opposite effect?
there is freedom, but many times it must be purchased with money
I find that sad

thanks for reading
